March Events

March 1 - Daughters of Isabella meet at 7 p.m. at the Melrose City Center. Chairwomen are Judy Gaebel and Beatrice Funk.

March 6 - St. Mary's 8th annual Dinner and Auction for Education, Melrose American Legion. Serving 5-8 p.m. followed by heads and tails game, and live auction, 8:15 till midnight. Tickets $25 person at St. Mary's School, CMFCU Melrose, and Freeport State Bank, Melrose.

March 7 - Talent Unleashed, community talent show, 6:30 p.m., MHS Auditorium. Tickets at Community Ed. office, CMFCU and Freeport Bank-Melrose. Tickets $6 in advance. $6.50 at the door. Children 3-12 $3. Under 3 free.

March 7 - St. Louis Catholic Aid Assn. matching grant breakfast, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at St. Louis Church in Paynesville.

March 7 - Sausage and Ham Supper, Spring Hill Church basement, 4-8:30 p.m. Sponsored by the Spring Hill Baseball Team, Recreation Club and St. Michael's Parish. Adults $6, at the door $6.50; children 6-12, $3; 5 and under free.

March 8 - Author Doug Wood will make an appearance at the Melrose Library. This visit is rescheduled from the Monday, Feb. 8 original date.

March 9 - Area Township annual meetings and elections are schedule for this date, weather permitting.

March 9 - American Legion and Auxiliary meet at the American Legion Club. March is the American Legion birthday. Theme for March is Community Service. Lunch chair is Leona Karels. Serving chair is Fitzie Schroeder.

March 13 - Todd County Garden Day. Sponsored by Master Gardeners from 8:15-3 at First Baptist Church, 401 4th St. S., Long Prairie. Pre-register by March 1 with Marie Siegle, Todd County Garden Day, 21526 243rd Ave., Long Prairie MN 56347.

March 13 - St. Cloud National Marriage Encounter's Community Night will be held starting at 7 p.m. at the Newman Center.

March 14 - Matching Grant Pork Chop Supper, 4:30-8:30 p.m. at the St. Martin Parish Hall, St. Martin. Pork chops, scalloped and baked potatoes, homemade cinnamon bread and more. Sponsored by St. Martin Catholic Aid Council No. 95. Tickets $7.50 in advance, $8 at the door, children 6-12 $4.50. Advance sales at St. Martin businesses.

March 14 - Quilt Bingo, 1 p.m. at St. Mary's Church basement, Upsala. Free lunch afterward. Sponsored by St. Mary's Mission Group.

March 14 - St. Patrick's Day Social, Celebration and Dinner. 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Chicken dinner and dressing. Country Store, Bake Sale, Fancywork. Children's Games. Sponsored by St. Mary's Christian Mothers/Women. Advance tickets $7.50 adults; ages 5-12 $4; 4 and under free. Tickets available at Freeport State Bank-Melrose, CMFCU, Ernie's Family Foods, St. Mary's School, Christian Women. Tickets at the door $8 and $4.50. Take out available.

March 15-19 - Stearns County Cancer Society annual Daffodil Days. For more information or to order daffodils call Audrey Roering, 320-352-5211, Ext. 213.

March 20 - St. Martin's spring craft, bake and second hand sale. Serving homemade chicken noodle soup (take out available, bring container), roast beef sandwiches, and desserts. 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. St. Martin Parish Hall. Sponsored by parish of St. Martin and St. Ann's Christian Women.

March 21 - Elrosa - Ham and Egg Breakfast, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul's Church basement. Sponsored by St. James Catholic Aid Matching Grant. Tickets adults $6; children 6-11 $3; under 5 free.

March 21 - St. Mary's Bingo will begin 7:30 p.m. Cash or variety of meat prizes. Free lunch served at 7 p.m. during intermission or following bingo. $10 for 20 games and two black out games. Door prizes. All proceeds go to St. Mary's Mission Society.

March 27-28 - St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church will present "Journey with Jesus to Calvary." 8:30 a.m. on March 27, 1:30 p.m. on March 28.


April Events

April 3 - Melrose - VFW Auxiliary Easter Egg & Bake Sale will be held on Sat., April 3rd at the American Legion Clubrooms. at 8:30 a.m. along with coffee & rolls. Lunch will be serve at 11 a.m. with soup, sandwiches and pie. Everyone Welcome.


June Events

June 4 - 5 - Third annual Kick-Off to Summer Car Show and Cook-Off. Friday, Music in the Park, food and fireworks 6-11 p.m. Saturday, Car show, cook-off, silent auction, entertainment, food, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Melrose Sauk River Park.


July Events

Wii: We now have the Fitness program. For fun exercise and learn how you score on your balance, check it out. Call Elaine Niehoff at 320-256-4933 and we will get you going on this super fun game. We hope to set up some competition when we get more proficient at this.

Bridge: Tuesdays at 1 p.m. Beginners welcome. Help is available for beginners. For more details call Rosalie at 256-7806 or Julia at 256-4445

Pool: Instructions given at 10 a.m. daily Monday thru Friday or call 256-7586 for a special time.

Senior strength classes: Mondays and Wednesdays, 8:15 a.m. Cost is $25 per month.

Line Dancing: Wednesdays at 9 a.m.

Weight-loss groups: Golden Goalies meet at 9:15 a.m. Tuesdays. On the Weigh meets Thursdays at 9:15 a.m.

Board Meeting: The next board meeting will be Monday, March 8, at 9:15 a.m.

Senior Law Project of St. Cloud Area Legal Services. No help is provided for criminal matters, wills, estate planning or real estate transactions.
