James “Jim” Richard Sobania, 63

Mass of Christian burial celebrating the life of James “Jim” Richard Sobania, age 63 of Rice will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2014 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Opole.  Father John Paul Knopik will officiate, and burial will take place in the parish cemetery following the mass.  Jim died unexpectedly in his home Monday afternoon.  There will be a visitation for Jim from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, May 8 at the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home in Holdingford, and again from 10-11 a.m. Friday morning at the church in Opole.  Arrangements are being made with the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home of Holdingford.
Jim was born Sept. 19, 1950 to Anton and Mary (Bursey) Sobania in Rice.  He lived his entire life on his family farm where he worked as a dedicated farmer.  Farming the land was his life.  He loved raising his animals and watching them grow.  He also enjoyed following sports teams, both local and professional, however his work and his farm were his passions.  Jim will be remembered as being a true keeper of the land. He was also a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Opole.  
Jim is survived by his brother Ray (Deborah Brownie) Sobania, St. Cloud; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Anton and Mary Sobania, and his sister Lorraine Grebinoski.
