Peter Michael Thomas Sr., 76, of Avon, passed away March 1, 2014, in Bradenton, Florida, with his wife of 54 years, by his side.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, in Avon. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. A luncheon will follow at the church.
Peter was born in St. Cloud to the late Dorothy (Schaefer) and Peter R. Thomas on March 30, 1937. Peter served his country in the Air Force for five years. He was stationed in Presqueilse, Maine; Bordeau, France; Ramstein/Landstuhl and Pforzheim, Germany where he met and married Sigrid (Sigi) Kolb, on Feb. 20, 1960. They lived in St. Cloud until 1988, and then moved to their Lake Home in Avon.
Peter is a graduate of Cathedral High School and attended St. Cloud State University. Peter worked for 35 years as a sales rep for Brown and Williamson Tobacco Corp., of Louisville, KY. He enjoyed many camping trips with his family, loved fishing, and getting visits from the kids and grandkids. Peter also was an Assistant Boy Scout Master and Hockey Coach for many years. He was a member of Eagles Aerie #622 and St. Benedict’s Church in Avon. Also, seasonally, Peter was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Bradenton, Florida.
In addition to his wife, Sigrid, Peter is survived by his 5 children, Raymond (Pat), of Bucyrus, Mo., Stephen of Fountain, Co., Heidi (Chris) Hammond, of Annandale, Peter Jr. (Lisa) of Avon and Christina (Craig) Molm of Avon; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers and sisters, Kay (Tom) Faust of Chanhassen; Patricia (Gary) DeGrave, of Corpus Christi, TX; Brian (Rhonda) Thomas of Rockville; Christopher (Ginny) Thomas of Sauk Centre and Timothy (Mary) Thomas of St. Cloud. He was preceded in death by his twin children, Charles and Monica Thomas; and also brothers, Fr. James, David and Kerry Thomas.
