Sauk Centre house burns

Sauk Centre Fire Department responded to the Adam Gress residence at 40718 Sauk Lake Rd., Sauk Centre Twp., at 10:50 p.m. Jan. 29, for a garage fire. The fire had spread to the house before the department arrived on scene. The house was occupied at the time of the fire, and all people were able to get out of the house without injury.

The garage and the house were a total loss.

Sauk Centre Fire Department, Melrose Fire Department, Sauk Centre Ambulance, Stearns County Sheriff's Office, and Sauk Centre Police Department assisted at the scene.

Brooten Burglary

Feb. 1 - Owner of J&K Meats, Brooten, reported at 6 a.m. that a burglary had occurred sometime after the close of business on Saturday, Jan. 30. It was determined that the front door had been pried open with a pry bar. A cash register containing checks and an undisclosed amount of cash was taken. A filing cabinet was also reported missing.

Deputies located the cash register and file cabinet along a roadway in a rural area near Brooten.
